Theresa Destrebecq inspires people to learning in community through books. She is the founder of Emerge Book Circles, where she supports individuals and companies to create deeper learning experiences and stronger connections. For her it’s not about consuming new ideas, but about creating new ways of living and leading FROM those ideas.
Before launching Emerge Book Circles, Theresa worked as a classroom teacher and leader (special education and English as a Second Language). When she left education, she dabbled in a few areas including e-learning design, personal training, wellness coaching and copywriting, before settling on coaching and personal/professional development as her sole focus.
Theresa became Healing Circles Global Host in the Spring of 2021, after taking part in their 2-part host facilitation program. She now co-hosts the "Coming Together for Peace" circle on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month
Healing Circles Global is a non-profit whose vision is to provide social support to anyone who asks for it. This takes place in small circles, both live and online, built on a framework of self-connection. Participants are encouraged to treat one another with kindness and respect, hold stories in confidence, withhold judgment, and honour each other's unique journeys without advising, fixing, or rescuing.
Circle participants work together to explore the best ways to remove obstacles to healing, alleviate suffering, and deepen their capacity to heal. They also access their own inner guidance to determine where the greatest healing—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual—can occur.
When Theresa is not reading and leading, she is a mom, wife, friend, daughter, sister, etc. You can also find her meditating, swallowed up in a good book (obviously), running through the woods behind her house, saluting the rising of the sun from her yoga mat, or behind the stove cooking something yummy.
She loves to laugh until her stomach hurts and prefers to be around people who can make her laugh that hard.
